Risk Assessment with the kids

The year 3/4/5/6 are going on an excursion tomorrow to Bulcock Beach, Caloundra. For those coming on the excursion, please arrive at OSHC before 7am as we depart at 7:15am. Students will need a towel, sunscreen, a hat, morning tea, and a change of clothes. Students will also be encouraged to apply and reapply sunscreen throughout the day to ensure they are sun safe.

It is critical that the children participate in the activity planning and risk assessment processes. This is because it encourages children to think about and understand their own limits and abilities when being in new environments as well as environments we are used to, such as the field. For example, the children have recognised that car sickness is a risk with a likelihood of 4 and a risk level of medium. The Health and Safety legislation states that an assessment of risk is needed in relation to a class of hazards, tasks, circumstances, or things.

Please check out what the children have come up with for the risk assessment posted down below.
