This morning we had fun choreographing and practicing some of the dances for our upcoming Showcase movie. Before we began, and during the practice, the children who had previously practiced the dances were active in collecting other children to join in, even if they hadn't been involved previously.
The children encouraged and supported each other through helping each other learn the moves. The children also developed their gross motor skills, coordination and confidence dancing in front of the group. The children showed persistence and resilience as they continued to practice, even when the dance moves seemed difficult, or they forgot which move came next. When developing the dance routines, expressing their message through facial expression was a main focus for the children. The children practiced autonomy and team work skills as they worked together to create the routine.
